Sometimes people think that being a pre-school teacher means we only need to sing and dance along with the students. People might underestimate the enchantment of a pre-schoolers as they might seems too innocent.

Do you know that pre-schoolers who are even less than half of our age could enlighten our life? Here are things to learn from pre-schoolers.

1. Simple Things Matter

Have you ever thought that childish stuffs could be influential for pre-schooler? Simple things like stickers, balloon, or even star could make their day! How about us? As an adult, we might think about our life. Why we have to be this struggled? Why we have to work this much? We forgot that simple things matter for our lives. Sounds cliche but it is something to be grateful.

Here is a picture when I got a sticker from my student. She said “ini buat kamu ya”. It was a simple thing that could warm a misery heart❤

2. Kindness Starts From Words

I started to realize that simple words like “You looks beautiful today”, “Your artwork looks awesome”, “Hi, strong boy!” or even just a simple “Good morning, princess” could be meaningful for my students. They told their parents that their teacher said that they looked good. I didn’t even realize that it was beautiful until their parents talked about it to me.

As an a adult, we intermittently hesitant to praise others. We might think “Is it okay to say that these things were beautiful?” “Is it good enough for others?” “Am I capable of doing this?” “Everyone didn’t say a thing, did I make a mistake?”. Again, lesson learned from a kid with purest soul.

3. Everyone Needs a “Home”

First day of school might be tough for kids. They might worried about what will happen once they enter a place with lots of strangers by themselves. They might worried what can they do without their parents. As day goes by, they would feel comfortable to get in touch with their classmates and teacher.

When they cried, we might give them hugs. When they got angry, we might soothe their hearts by giving encouragement and they would feel like “home”. They have their safest person in a comfortable environment from teacher who were once stranger to them. I’ve got a picture where one of my student sleep on my lap. It means he was comfortable enough to be with me, that once a stranger for him.

So do us. We also need our “home” that would be our safest person in a safest place that could heal our wound naturally. We could be a “home” for our kids, why we won’t try to be “home” for others? Maybe that’s how we found our own “home”.

As we get older, we might find it hard to connect with our inner child.

We hustle until we suffer.

I teach my student most of the day and they gave me lesson most of my existence.
